Flipper Hand

I seem to have contracted a severe case of flipper hand...

You know, when you write for so long that your hand feels permanently cramped in that position? I had to do some intense hand stretches after filling out two and a half blue books this afternoon. Two and a half blue books of garbage, that is...the test didn't go so well. But, that is neither here nor there, so onto the food!

For dinner post-exam, my brain was fried, so I relied on an old faithful for dinner.

Tofu pita pockets! These were my favorite spicy tofu flavor.

And for my second course:

An apple, almonds and cashews, two squares of Lindt chili dark chocolate and two Lindt truffles. After that test, it was either chocolate or beer, and guess which is cheaper?

Currently, I'm curled up writing this with a mug of my favorite easy hot chocolate (almond milk + dark cocoa powder + agave). I've got a paper to edit tonight...the end seems so close, yet so far away! Please bear with me if my posts are a bit monotonous this week. I'm attempting to focus on school ;)

Hope you have a wonderful night!

What's your favorite food or drink to unwind with? I have a feeling wine and chocolate are going to be the top contenders...

Exam Prep

I may not be a great studier, but I do know that the best way to prep for an exam is with a filling, balanced meal. No one wants to be the one with a rumbling stomach in a deathly quiet room!

Today's lunch was almost an exact replica of yesterday's packed one. I combined a can of chunk light tuna with a few big spoonfuls of hummus, then plopped it into a whole-wheat wrap with some fresh baby spinach.

On the side, I had some carrot sticks for an extra serving of veggies.

Maybe seeing the questions better will help me answer them more accurately? Wishful thinking.

I also had a sliced apple with a huge glob of almond butter. Brain food!

In addition to a full stomach, the other thing that helps me concentrate is comfy clothes. Hence, I'm wearing my favorite stretchy sundress:

   -  Black ruffled sundress: J.Crew
   -  Black cardigan: Merona from Target
   -   Flip-flops: Havianas
   -   Necklace and bracelet: gifts
   -   Headband: Goody, from the drugstore

Ready to do this thing. See you all tonight!

Because I'm in test-thinking mode, how many times did you take the SATs/ACTs? I took them four times, and I also took four SAT II subject tests- so that meant eight Saturday mornings, including my 17th birthday. Can you say perfectionist? The funny thing is that I kept taking them to improve my math score, but every time I took them the math score stayed the same and the verbal score went up. I was a pro by the time I was done!

Cereal Monster

Good morning, friends!

I started today off right with my favorite 45 minute spin class. Today, the instructor focused on splits, and had us doing tons of up-and-down intervals. We did lots of climbs and sprints, alternating between sitting and standing- as usual, it was a great, sweaty workout!  So sweaty that I sported a large, super-attractive sweat spot on my hiney for the walk home. I think some people may have thought that I wet my pants...

(PS- Isn't hiney a fun word? Maturity FTW!)

After class, I came home to make one of my new favorite breakfasts: smoothie cereal. This bowl was the best to date!

I blended:
   -   1 banana
   -   1 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior
   -   1 spoonful Maranatha creamy almond butter
   -   1 cup unsweetened almond milk
   -   large handful of raw baby spinach
   -   a squirt of agave

(Squirt is another fun word, isn't it?)

Then, I topped it with a few handfuls of Kashi GoLean for crunch and texture. Breakfast is served!

It's been awhile since I had a green monster smoothie, and this was perfectly fresh and light. The flavors reminded me of summer- I'm kind of contemplating having another for lunch!

Today is my final day of two classes, one of which includes a final. Considering that Tuesdays have been my least favorite day this semester, I'm very glad to get them over with!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

What words make you giggle? Bauble, codswollop, poppycock, titmouse, I could go on and on...
