Fro-yo meetup!

Happy weekend, everyone! I was floored by all of your feedback on my picking post…it comforts me to know that I’m not the only one who has struggled with it. Last night I had a solid snack of Nature’s Path kamut puffs and green grapes. So far, so good!

Today started off with another summer shape up workout. I had a banana before doing a 20 minute yoga podcast and 30 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical (I’m a day behind in the workouts, so I combined days 4 and 5).

Breakfast was a massive bowl of Kashi GoLean, fresh raspberries and unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze:

I spent the morning at a diabetes class at the hospital. To be honest, I really didn’t know much at all about diabetes, so I definitely learned some interesting information. Furthermore, the attendants of the class asked some interesting questions that I’ve been mulling over, but I’m saving that for a bigger post J

Lunch was a hummus and tomato sammie on Alvarado St. Bakery sprouted barley bread, plus some lightly steamed carrots and a massive bowl of strawberries. I wouldn’t be surprised if I started turning red.

This afternoon, I headed into Philadelphia for a blogger meet-up organized by Jenna and Tina! About 15 or 20 bloggers met at Phileo Yogurt on South Street:

My cup was filled with four flavors: taro, lychee fruit, green apple and tart pineapple. I topped my froyo with watermelon, kiwi, pineapple and blueberries. The fruity flavors were perfect in the heat! Taro was probably my favorite- it was slightly milky tasting, but with a tropical edge. Reminded me of coconut milk!

I loved encountering new bloggers and finally meeting some whose blogs I’ve been reading awhile, especially Gracie from Girl Meets Health! And it was really strange to meet Tina and Jenna in person. Reading someone’s blog makes you feel like you know them so well, but when you meet them face to face it’s completely different! Both were super nice though J

After a trafficky and hot drive home, I was ready for something cool for dinner. I made a salad beast with spinach, cukes, plum tomatoes, Greek olives and Veggie Patch falafel balls, topped with Dijon. On the side I had an onion pita with hummus for dipping. Hit the spot!

Dessert was an apple and half a bar of TJ’s 72% dark chocolate:

This weekend’s agenda includes lots of cleaning, a WF trip, and tons of sleep- is it sad that I’m actually looking forward to all of those things? Hope you all have a little more excitement than I do!

What’s your favorite frozen dessert or froyo flavor?

Have you ever been to a blogger meet-up? Do you feel strange knowing so much about someone you’ve never actually

HOW FUN! I wish I had a blogger meetup like that to go to. I've never seen those colors of froyo before!

I am so jealous that you got to go! I would LOVE to go to a blogger meet up :( I am surprised I don't know more bloggers around the NYC area. Glad you had a good day girlie! :)

Hi Gabriela!! It was awesome to meet you today! I wish we had more time to talk one-on-one. We should get together sometime!! Anytime! Your fro yo creation looks yummy. I'll have to try the taro next time. I know what you mean about it feeling strange to meet the girls in person . . . it's impossible not to have expectations, and it's impossible for them to be what you expected. They were all incredible, and now I feel like I can "hear" them when I read their blogs. :)

My favorite frozen dessert is white chocolate mac with heath bar from TCBY. Yum.

Sounds like such a nice meet up! And why yes, I have been to a meet up, and one involved non dairy yogurt deliciousness with lovely new yorkers! Hope you have a great weekend, Gabriela.

awww, looks like a blast!!! I have never done a bloggy meet up...I guess thats the price I pay living in Kansas, eh? Hopefully one day though!

You know I've been to tons of blogger meet-ups! lol I like the fact that I don't ever feel like I'm meeting strangers, but feel like I'm among friends already. :)

My favorite frozen yogurt is from Berry Wild, which I used to basically live across the street from. But I love Red Mango and Pinkberry too (which I live near now).

Great to hear that your goal is going well so far, girl! I forget exactly how long it takes to break a bad habit (21 days maybe?) but by replacing your bad picking habit with the good habit of eating proper snacks, you're well on your way to making it feel easier and more normal :)

That's so awesome that you met so many bloggers! I've always wanted to be part of a blogger meet-up, but I haven't come across anyone who lives in my province, much less my city. Maybe if I ever do some travelling to the States, I can meet up with a few bloggers :) Would be nice to get to know some of the girls better.

That meet-up sounds like so much fun...I'd love to go to one someday, to meet people with a similar interest and to finally meet some bloggers in person. The froyo looked so good too, especially the taro and lychee flavors.

Phileo looks redonkulous. Taro is my absolute favorite fro yo flavor! And I've never done a blogger meetup but I think it would be awesome (slash kind of surreal). WF + sleep sounds like the best weekend ever. I'll be doing Trader Joe's + sleep over here!
p.s. Thanks for #ff love!

I'm so jealous of your froyo and your blogger meat up! We don't have any frozen yogurt places here.. the closest thing is Baskin Robbins! And nobody ever comes to new mexico.. darnet!

I'm regretting not trying the taro flavor, especially after your description of it! Funny this is...I still have NO idea what taro is, haha :P

So SO great meeting you!! You're such a sweetie :) I remember feeling weird the first time I met bloggers in real life, but it's not so strange anymore. I mean, it's the age of the Internet, so we're just ahead of the game! hahaha.

Have a great night doll! Talk to you soon =)

And for the millionth time tonight, I wish I was in Philly today!!! SO jealous!! I'd love to meet you and Gracie and Jenna..
Frozen yogurt is so so so good!! My favorite is the plain tart topped with blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and graham cracker crumbs!
Love you!

I've never been to a blogger meet up but I can see how it could be kind of awkward after reading about them for so long. haha

I lurve blogger meet ups. I have never been to one that big; sounds fun though. I might have gotten overwhelmed -- sometimes when I meet a bunch of people at once I sort of shut down. I have met up with you and Missy and Marina and also Kath (twice). I;m hoping to meet more blog friends in real life this summer since many of my friends are gone. I love that having "online" friends can lead to real life, close friendships. Makes blogging so worth it! Let me know if you're back to NY for a visit this summer :)

I've never met a frozen dessert I didn't like!

What a fun time...omg!

Bloggger meetups:
Jenn girl heroes
Bekah of Beek Eats
MommyRd Maureen
Madeline Greens Jeans
Alyson Nourished Fitness

ANd next week when i get back to so cal, hope to meet about 20 more over the summer!

It's not weird for me b/c i didnt really read the blogs of the ppl ive met til after I met them IRL.
however going back to CA, i will "know" them in much greater detail than the AZ girls

xo

That looks like so much fun! I love taro- I also can't explain the flavor..it is kinda like coconut, but also a bit stronger. Whatever it is, I love it!

I went to the Foodbuzz festival last year and didn't know too many people, so it was a bit awkward at first, but everyone was really nice.

Yum yum...the froyo looks great! I've been to a Red Mango a couple of times and just wish I could get more of the fruit toppings! Maybe I should just ask for the toppings as my base and the froyo as my topping, haha...I guess my favorite frozen dessert flavor would probably revolve around gelato, since that's what I've got here, but I'm not complaining. ;-) I love all the flavors I've tried, but so far crema (tastes like creme anglaise, yum!) and cocco (coconut) are delicious!

I've never done a blogger meetup, but I do think I'd be apprehensive about meeting someone face-to-face for the first time just for the reason you mentioned: what if they're different than you imagined? But I'd still love to do them!

Your breakfasts always make me feel so jealous:)

OMG Gab, I feel like you are the biggest superstar EVER right now! Ha. I was just reading CNC and was like, "that looks like Gabriela!" hahaha. I came over here immediately. SO COOL!

Kudos to you for sticking to Gina's summer shape up! I stopped after the first day... I'm hanging my head in shame right now haha!

That blogger meet up looks like fun! I think I would be so awkward if I ever went to one. I think I'd like to one day though, but I'm not sure if there are many other bloggers from Ontario out there.

Aww looks like fun! Clearly that's the best place for a blogger meet up, I LOVE fro-yo!! That would probably be super weird meeting people in person. Unfortunately, there is no one even CLOSE to me. Hope you're having a fantastic weekend pretty girl!

Justine said...

That is not sad in the least bit that you get excited for those things! Frozen yogurt=love for me! I have been really into mixing (mostly) tart with PB & white chocolate flavours and then packing on as much fruit as I can! It is so perfect for summer. :)

Enjoy your weekend!

oh, what a great meetup!! i actually have one with a reader today! so much fun! i'm hoping to get some fro yo today too! my fav flavors are definitely not the tart and fruity ones...i'm more of a chocolate/vanilla/pb girl...or any of those that are similar. :)

Kait said...

I just love plain old vanilla fro-yo or soft serve...it totally hits the spot, although you mish-mash of flavors looks awesome! And I've never been to a blogger meet up before, but I know there are plenty of us in the ALT area and I'd love to do one!

Have a great weekend :)

I love fro-yo but sadly do not have one near me :( Whenever I go to NYC I always hit up Pinkberry! LOVE! (I like the tart flavors though)
Never been to a bloggie meetup though I think the idea is great. I'm sure I would be shy at first but by the end I would have met some amazing women and friends!
Have a great weekend darlin' ;)

aww fro yo + blogger meet up sounds like a perfect day! i always think its so funny when bloggers know so much about each other without ever meeting! glad you had some fun :)

Anonymous said...

Honestly, I've never been much of a fro-yo person. Growing up I loved hazelnut chocolate gelato and vanilla bean ice cream, but only on rare occasions. Now I am obsessed with coconut milk ice cream...the so delicious flavors are amazing.

I have yet to go on a blogger meet up since I moved from Boston and NY to MI, and there seem to be no healthy living bloggers around here! I would love to anytime I am in ny, etc. though! I am going to the healthy living summit in CHI so I am sure that will be somewhat overwhelming since I know so many bloggers through the blog world but not in person!

sounds like a fun day though lady!

awww what a fun meetup and bonus you got froyo :) green apple sounds so good!

i love bloggie meetups but they can be awkward because you feel like you know someone yet you've never heard them speak or anything! theyre definitely fun after the first few minutes but the initial meet is like an "uuuuh we know eachother?" hahaha

Lele said...

I went to a blogger meetup and Tina was there and I saw her in the hall outside and almost went "Carrots!"

Fortunately I caught myself :D

They are kind of weird, at least big ones. I like small ones! Although, I might've gone (if I lived in Philly) just to try some of that taro froyo! In Asia I ate taro-flavored everything and it was sooooooo yummy!

Anonymous said...

i totally agree with yoyu- it is so weird to follow someone's blog for a while and then actually meet them bc you arleady feel like you know them!! that looks like a fun meet up though :) love the fruitness!!
i reallly like original tart yogurt but ive had some real good chocolate ones too :) i love vanilla wafer froyo from yogurtland!

Michelle said...

I Love taro flavored frozen yogurt!!! The flavor and the gorgeous lavender color always makes me happy. That and green tea always seems to rock my socks off. :) hehhe

Blogger meet ups can definitely be awkward, but getting to know new people is awesome. Soon, you can find other things apart from blogging to chat about, but what an great way to start right? :)

Ilana said...

Uh-mazing...looks like a seriously fun meetup.
I was just sitting here thinking how strange it is that I write all thee personal things on my blog that I am not necessarily 100% willing to share with all the people who know me in real life... It's such a strange dichotomy, we blog to connect with others, often when we can't connect with people face to face.

Stephanie @cookinfanatic said...

I love bloggie meetups!! It's so weird how much you find that you have in common with other food bloggers that the conversation just flows! Looks like a great time :)
