Joisey

Hey guys! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend. I am exhausted, but in a good way. Yesterday I drove up to North Jersey to go to a friend’s birthday party in Danielle Straub’s town, for my fellow Real Housewives of NJ addicts.

It was a lot of fun! Confession: I don’t like swimming. Call me a princess, but I hate getting wet. (Cat comparisons have been drawn.) I’m perfectly content to sit in a chaise lounge and relax instead.

I didn’t snap any food photos, but the dinner selection was heavy on meat. I filled up on crudités and rolls, which was fine because I had a ton of room left for dessert. There was a huge buffet of cakes, cookies, candies and cupcakes, and I definitely had my fair share!

Mike and I…the matching oufits were unintentional, I swear.

The whole group

After a late night, I woke up early to hit the road! A few family friends are visiting from California, and I wanted to get home and say hi. I ate a Clif white chocolate macadamia bar while driving (bad choice, considering I still felt queasy from my sugar OD the night before):

My third day without cereal for breakfast? I can’t believe it either!

When I got home, I threw together a slop bowl for lunch. This contained broccoli, tomato, carrots, a Sunshine burger, eggplant marinara (WF brand, for those of you who have asked) and nutritional yeast.

I had a bowl of fruit salad my mom made on the side:

A few hours later, I headed to the gym. I did half an hour on the elliptical, followed by some free weight arm exercises and stretching.

Post-workout I refueled with a protein smoothie containing 2c almond milk, 2 scoops Sun Warrior vanilla protein, a frozen banana and ice:

I also snacked on the last few roasted salted peanuts while watching the Jersey Shore. Trash TV at it’s finest.

For dinner, I wanted something simple. I had a hummus and cucumber sandwich on Whole Foods oatmeal bread, plus a small slice of leftover Amy’s roasted vegetable pizza.

Any wagers on dessert?

Pink lady with cinnamon and slightly melted Hershey’s antioxidant dark chocolate, times two. Never gets old.

I have a hot date with my TV tonight. Early to bed for me!

Do you enjoy swimming, or are you a chaise lounger?

Ever been to New Jersey? Growing up near Philadelphia, it's inevitable. People joke about it, but it's not a bad state- they have the shore, after all!

I like swimming but it has to be REALLY hot. Otherwise, I just like to sit with my feet in the water. :)

oh my gosh I am the same way at pool parties. I just hate getting my hair wet (it never feels clean after)

you and the boyf. are too cute!! you look like that all american couple :)

I LOVE swimming.. and right now I am living right by the lake so I'm getting my fair share. I do understand not wanting to get wet though... the worst part in my opinion in sitting in a wet bathing suit. Yuck.

... Uhm, can I just say that I am a total 'slop bowl' girl too? Hehe.. I tend to just throw a bunch of stuff in a bowl with scrambled eggs and make it a meal. So comforting :)

I've never been to Jersey since I live in the south. Actually, I will be hitting Philly for the first time in 2 weeks. Your time at the shore looked like fun. And saving room for dessert is smart in my book. LOL

I love being in the water!!! I can never lay outside unless I'm wet. I get too hot!

I have never been to New Jersey. My mom used to live there for a couple of years when she was in her 20's, but we've never gone to visit!

Hehe I'm a fish! Never understood you chaise loungers....
Jersey is nice, but I have a sheltered view of it as I have only been to Princeton to visit family. Not quite the Jersey Shore side of Joiesey, eh?

you are wonderful and so stinkin' cute. I love being in the water! Maybe not always swimming but it gets dang hot if you arent :)

Love that you and Mike matched, so cute! I LOVE that dress too!! Mike and I have matched before too unintentionally!

So glad the party was great, Im sure everyone enjoyed the chocolate you made too!!! I would of been eating all the yummy cake and cookies too, thats the best part of a party!

I dont like swimming either!! I get called a princess because of that too, reason I dont is because, Im not a huge swimming fan anyways and my hair is naturally curly, and not pretty after getting wet if I dont have my tools on me to fix it, which takes forever to do!

Love you girl and have a great night! xoxo

I'm okay with getting the bod wet but when it comes to the hair...heck no. That is soooo not happening. I'm with ya.

Jersey Shore starts this next week...ahhhh! Is it sad that I am excited? Oh well, it's entertaining!

I love the dress! Where is it from?

And love all the mish mosh foods too. I live for those!

I've never really liked swimming as in exercise wise, but I do love going to the pool and relaxing!

never been to NJ. No plans to either :)

you and mike in your pink are possibly the cutest, waspiest couple ever and i mean that in the best possible way :)

As for blog worthy events and otherwise, glad to hear you had a blasty! I cant even believe that has to be a consideration, but yeah, i guess it does for another few mos til youre an old lady LOL. Trust me, there are so many things that dont make my blog, if only, if only I could post the things that I wanted to but it just wouldnt be a good idea LOL

Veggie eating, glad you liked that discussion..yeah, just call me On A Roll with the topics. Lol.

chaise lounge, not swimming, ummm that's my middle name. I actually love to swim. But that's a workout, lounging is it's own activity :)

xoxo

as for swimming,
eh. I dont really like getting wet either. which is weird, because I feel like I can take hour long showers no problem, but have a difficult time staying in a pool or the ocean for more than 30 minutes! hahha :)

You look beautiful in that picture-- I love your dress! (and the matching outfits-- ha!)

Agreed! No need to get wet, haha, we prefer just soaking up the sun!

Glad you a great time! Your looked gorgeous.

I'll have to check out that tomato sauce, I absolutely love smoked eggplant and tomato sauce, so the two together can't be beat.

My mom is a Jersey girl! And I'm sure the NJ OC is better than the MD OC, which is way, way trashy.

I like a little bit of both on the beach, usually - some heating up on a chair with a magazine on a book, and getting in the water when it gets too hot.

I've been to New Jersey many times, visiting friends and family.

Aww what a FUN weekend!!! You look beautiful in that white outfit!!
I am both.. I love being lazy on the beach BUT i love swimming too.. but i hate being wet.. I KNOW.. that makes NO Sense.
anyway love you!

I love swimming in lakes and pools... even though I do feel kind of dirty... the ocean scares me though.. i can get up to my knees then i start panicking.. even though I am certified to be a lifegaurd.. hah.
Your weekend looks awesome:D and you look SUPER stunnah

I read the title o f this post and started laughing - that's what I call NJ too. It sounds better to me haha.

Anyway, you and Mike are adorraaaableee, but I think you already know I think that. a thousand props for probably being the douchiest couple at the party!! And you are so gorgeous! I love that color on you, Blondie! Excuse me for the comparison but this picture is SO Barbie and Ken - in a fabulous way!!

Swimming? Ehhh. I also used to hate getting wet but Jon loves to surf and swim, so, you know, I do what pleases my man (in more ways than one, ahem .. time to blog about it!) But I still prefer being dry and cute in my bathing suit with my hair and makeup still intact.

When I was little I n ever understood why Jersey gets a bad rap but most if it isn't SO bad. Even the shore is gorgeous, you know, when there isn't an MTV reality show being filmed in a house. Is it sad that I've never seen an episode? Can't decide..

Come back to the city -- I n eed some of your fabulousness in my life!!

Oh I am the SAME way about swimming. It's fun for about the first minute if it's really hot out - but then I'm over it. And of course, by then, I'm wet. I don't like being wet. Especially because I look like a wet rat, haha.
I've never been to Jersey, but...I hear a lot about it, lol.
Looks like oyu had another fun weekend with friends, though. Glad you got to see everybody!

Girl, I'm with you. Park my butt on a chaise lounge with an ice cold water and a book and I'm a happy camper. :-D

I love to go swimming in lakes, but I get really bored swimming in pools! Plus my hair explodes into a giant frizzy mess when it gets wet in the summers! I prefer to lounge by the side and just go in for quick dips to cool myself off.

That looks like a fun party though! And that's a great pic of you and Mike. :)

i don't htink you realize how happy i am to know that there are other ppl out there who don't like swimming! yeah i'll jump in and out to get off but i'm not a water baby by any means!! I hate my hair wet lol

LOVE THIS!

glad you had a fun weekend :)

Ahh, it looks like you had such a great time! Looks like you've got quite the good-looking group of friends, haha :)

You should know that I loveeee me some Jersey. I'm here right now, actually :) The funny thing is, one of my best friends lives in Mt. Laurel, and she is seriously SO proud of living here!

oh, and p.s. once again we're on the same wavelength. Def ate a white chocolate macadamia Clif Bar during my late car ride last night!

Gurrrrrl I hope you took some body guards to Danielle's town!! ;)

Your unintentional matchy-matchy with Mike is 10x better than Justin/Britney's denim get up. Remember that?! Yikes! Haha!

I love swimming!!

I'm the same way when it comes to getting wet; it always sounds like a fun idea in my head, but I never really enjoy doing it. I much prefer to sit on the shore/pool side as well... especially if I can soak up the sun while I'm at it. But the pool party sounds like it was tonnes of fun, and I love your outfit!

I've never been to New Jersey before. Maybe it's because I live on the west side of Canada, but most of my travelling to the States happened along the west/central part as well. I think the only Eastern state that I've been to is New York.

Lindsay @ http://pancakesnpajamas.blogspot.com/ said...

I'm a lounger too. I'll get in if it's super hot, but I'm okay chillin pool side. When I read Joisey, I immediately thought of how Danielle says whore..whoire..too funny!

Lauren said...

I am TOTALLY a swimmer! Well not so much "swimmer" - more like doggy paddler ;) I have such ADD when it comes to laying in the sun. I get super restless and constantly go between my chair and the pool.

I can't wait to pick up some of that eggplant marinara! Looks amazing! :)

Have a great day love!!! XOXOX

I love how you didn't freak out about the dinner options at the aprty and just went the flow, and then made sure to eat a lot of dessert to make up for it. :) Awesome!

I have been to the airport in NJ, and I also went canoeing/camping in the Delaware water gap area (which was WONDERFUL) three years ago. I admit though, as a New Yorker, I make my fair share of NJ jokes.

Have a lovely week my dear!

Love your dress! You look so pretty! I pretty much like to lay out unless I am at my parent's pool and know it will be warm and clean! Yes I've been to Jersey since I grew up in Philly! I love the shore no matter what anyone says!

Julie said...

haha oh joisey. the armpit of america no? haha glad you had such a fun weekend! i'm the same way with the water! i never feel the need to get in. i like it but i'd just honestly rather stay dry. UNLESS it's super hot. then you'll find me swimming..or on a raft.. haha

hbobier said...

Your slop bowl looks delish!! And I'm so in love with Nutritional Yeast now that I've tried it--it really goes on everything!

And as for the water, I don't mind it as long as my hair stays dry. I'm sure you know where I'm coming from, just because long hair is such a pain to comb through!

Justine said...

I MUCH prefer the chaise lounge- I'm not a fan of chlorine.
Or sunscreen for that matter. I don't get out much which could be the explanation as to why I practically glow in the dark......hm.

Your best advice said...

both!

Kittie said...

You know, when the world is crazy and unpredictable, I can always count on your dessert. ;)

Kelly said...

Totally with you on the pool and getting wet... which is kind of ironic since I grew up a swimmer! Once I am laying down in my suit, there is no getting up! I usually have a cup of ice to get me through the hot, 95+ weather days!

Megan D said...

You and Mike are adorable! And I just picked up the 'crunch' version of those white choco macadamia clifs.. i'm really excited to try them! i'm a bit of a princess too when it comes to swimming. i like to get in the water to cool off but i hate getting my hair wet because then it's all gross! haha i try not to admit that though =P
