Last night after posting, I went to see Inception with my friends Jillian and Alexa.
Freaking amazing is all I can say. Suspenseful, unique, mind-grabbing…of course, I’m not surprised. Leonardo DiCaprio can do no wrong J I’ve read some reviews that call it confusing, but I paid close attention and understood it just fine. Seriously, go see it!
Getting off the soapbox…
Today Katie from Healthy Bites invited me to come with her to a taping of The 10! Show, a Philadelphia show she does cooking segments for. It was such a cool experience! The whole atmosphere of the set was far more relaxed than I’d anticipated it to be, and I was amazed at how calm Katie was beforehand. She’s been doing the segments for awhile, and also participated on the last season of The Next Food Network Star, so I guess she’s comfortable in front of the camera! I really admire her for how smart and confident she’s been in her career choices so far.
On the show, Katie prepared seared halibut with tomato and corn salad with basil vinaigrette. Check out the video clip of her presentation here, if you’re so inclined!
Breakfast before I left this morning was a bowl of Fiber One, fresh raspberries and almond milk:
Since I knew I’d be headed straight to the gym after the taping, I packed a smallish lunch to have in the car on my way there: Maranatha peanut butter on Ezekiel bread, plus a Gala apple.
At the gym, I kept it simple with half an hour of hills on the elliptical and some stretching. I usually just use my home elliptical for workouts like these, but the heat has been brutal!
Post-gym snacks were a big bowl of strawberries and a handful of almonds. A few peanut butter fingers may have slipped in there as well ;)
I spent the rest of the afternoon running errands for my mom. My brother will be living with us until his wedding on the 31st (his future in-laws are staying at the apartment he shares with his fiancée), so I had to stop at the grocery store for Velveeta, beef jerky, pepperoni pizza and lunchmeat. Makes me wonder if we really came from the same womb…
I also stocked up on veggies, including a big head of kale! I incorporated it into my dinner by making kale chips.
To prepare them, I just drizzled the leaves with some olive oil, then shook on sea salt and garlic powder. So tasty and so addictive- my dad loved them, too!
I also had a vegan “pizza” on an Ezekiel wrap with eggplant marinara, squash, tomatoes humnut sauce (3T each nutritional yeast, hummus and water), and red pepper & oregano flakes.
Dessert was a pear and some Hershey’s Special Dark chocolate. I ended up dipping the chocolate straight into the Maranatha PB jar- tastes just like a dark chocolate Reese’s!

Favorite cooking show/chef? I don’t watch much TV, but I do catch an episode of Top Chef or Giada every once in awhile!

So cool ! I am an avid top chef/next foodnetwork star fan, I remember her she was my fav last season!! I am going to go to the next foodnetwork star open casting call in august, I don't know if It will be good or not, but i hope so...it has always been a dream to be on FN.. My favorite actor is Shia LaBeouf also Michael cera, and joseph gordon levitt. I guess I like the geeky-chic guys ahah Also regarding your other post I agree with your eats balance out throughout a week rather than day by day. I was almost upset because I had alot of almond butter as part of a snack today, but then I just remembered one day won't ruin everything, tomorrow will be different and I won't have as much. And love kale chips so delicious has dome today...and I agree about the womb thing I made my parents try kale chips and they didnt like them my dad is so opposite of me he rarely eats fruit or veggies....my mom is semi-me if i give her fruit and veg she eats them :)

i watched spice world back in the day when i was obsessed with them, if i can sit thru that, i can most def watch a bad movie with my fav actor! lol
sadly, I would go to a horrible movie jus to see my fav actor! i would love to see how he or she takes on the role in that movie!

I came home and declared "Leo is still king of the world!!" But I was cracking up in the beginning of the movie, when he washed up on shore ... I turned to my boyfriend and asked, "So is this what happens after Titanic?" But yessss Leo is by far my favorite actor. He's up there with Mr Depp (who can also do no wrong), Viggo Mortenson, Christian Bale (so hot) and Daniel Day Lewis. Oh yeah, Gangs of New York? I die. Johnny Depp and Christian Bale did that semi-okay movie last summer, I don't even remember what it's called now, but I know my friend and I made a special trip to the movie theater in Thailand just to see their sexy asses on screen.....and it was worth every second.
I love going to tapings! Ass crack of dawn sometimes but way fun. Sounds like your internship is really exciting!!

I <3 Giada, Paula Deen, and Ina Garten. Also Martha Stewart, I don't know why I *adore* her so much but I do. And Emeril and Alton Brown and Jamie Oliver and.... I think I prefer my celebrity chefs to my celebrity actors.

Inception was pretty much the best movie ever. Leo is the mannn. He really can't do any wrong. I also feel that way about Kevin Spacey. Random, I know, but his movies are awesome!

Haha, I love the list of stuff your brother wanted from the store. Too funny! I think Leo is pretty hot. I was actually just talking about hot actors with my sister tonight. I also think Taye Diggs is just beautiful! I might see Inception, but I have a LOT of trouble following movies, so if it is even remotely confusing, I will get lost.

ok your gym/elliptical info was great and even though i just plan to get weights not cardio machines, that tidbit was filed away that good stuff will always last.
the comment you left me today about your prof being surprised at your opinions b/c you're a head nodder...oh that was so telling! I can see you as being neither leader nor follower for the reasons you laid out...but i can definitely see you being that quiet but deadly type. Quietly taking it all in, every morsel of it, and if ever called upon, if that info was ever needed, you'd be dead on with it!

The taping sounds like so much fun! I love humnut sauce on a Ezekiel tortilla pizza, such an awesome combo. It's been warm so I've been using the gym vs my home elliptical, too!

I loved Inception so much I considered turning around when I left and buying a ticket for the next showing. I don't think it was confusing at all but I'd love to go back and see what new clues I could pick up. And that ending! Awesome.
I'm with you, I've been a Leo fan since This Boy's Life and aside from The Beach he can do no wrong. I forgive him for The Beach.
Oh I heard really good things about inception!
I heard Inception was really good; I'm going to see it this weekend and I can't wait! I used to think Leo was just another pretty face, but I agree that he's become a pretty amazing actor. My favorite, though, is Johnny Depp, and I'd definitely go see any movie with him in it, even if it threatened to be bad. I just love how he's able to convincingly play any role.
I don't really watch a lot of TV either, and barely any of the Food Network these days, but I agree that Giada is pretty fun to watch every once in a while.

I'm definitely a fellow Leo fan. He is quite good looking but I also think he's a great actor. Best of both worlds! He was amazing in Blood Diamond and The Daparted. Even the over-rated Titanic was good at the time and he was so freakin cute in it. I can't wait to see Inception. Hoping I can drag the hubby to it this weekend.
Ryan Reynolds & Paul Walker are my 2 main men - and yes, I will see whatever movie they're in, even if one of them isn't exactly the best actor out there. ;)
LOVED, loved Inception! I thought it was totally unique--I mean, who has ever thought of that premise for a movie?! It was great but definitely too similar to Shutter Island, in my mind.. loved both movies but I thought SI was *maybe a little better*?? and they were just too close in release dates :/
Nigella Lawson is my all time favorite chef for a multitude of reasons! She comes on on the fine living channel and I dvr every time she is on. I love reading her cook books as though they were novels. :)
