Ciao, Chicago!

Whew! This day of travel has really taken it out of me. As bummed as I am that the HLS is over, I’m happy to be home.

Despite my late night, I was up early again this morning. First stop: the Arnold-sponsored breakfast buffet for some pre-fun run fuel. It featured fresh fruit, eggs & sausage, bagel thins and a make-your-own cream cheese station:

Not being a cream cheese fan, I kept it light with a whole-wheat bagel thin and some berries. I didn’t want a sloshing stomach during the run!

All the fun-runners assembled in the lobby at 8 and split off into distance groups. I was between the 10K and 5K, but ultimately went with the latter- it was way too hot for me to run for an hour! Our group completed about 3.5 miles.

Post-run, I hit up the buffet for part two of breakfast. I had a few slices of fruit, plus an Alliebar.

This was every bit as delicious as I’d expected, and I especially loved the big chunks of pecans. Allie- I’m waiting to see these in Whole Foods someday!

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Gracie and I said our goodbyes and headed to the airport - it seemed like we’d just been on our way to the Windy City!

Blends: Sana, Me, Caitlin, Megan and Katy
Once through security, I bought a roasted veggie wrap with hummus from Cibo Express. Nothing special, but it was a healthy option.

For dessert, I shared one of the Fitnessista’s chocolate macaroons with Gracie. Foodgasmic, and vegan to boot!

Though my flight was at four, I was hoping to get onto a 2 o’clock flight with Gracie. Alas, the plane was oversold, so I settled into a chair and broke into this gem while waiting:

Yet another phenomenal blogger goodie. I swear, this community puts out better stuff than Trader Joe’s!

I also bought some dinner for the plane. Gracie had gotten this hummus + roasted veggie combo for lunch and raved about it, so I followed suit. A cup of grapes rounded out the meal.

The flight was easy and got in early, so I enjoyed some decadent truffles from my roomie while waiting for my dad to pick me up:

Because what’s a day without dark chocolate? I also snacked on some mixed nuts when I finally arrived at home.

Time. For. Bed. This chica is beat!

What’s your favorite bagel topping?

Weekend highlights- spill! I haven’t opened my Reader all weekend and feel seriously out of the loop! I can’t wait to catch up on all of your lives J

I miss you! LEt's go back to Chicago...now!! I'm actually mid-air flying home right now, and online thanks to coughing up 13 $ for wifi...

but anyways! I totally agree, blogging community=better than TJ!! Also, I was super impressed with cibo express--thought really hard about the roasted veg and humus combo too but ended up going with a bomb roasted veg salad. mmmmm so yum, so happy to have found that place!

So glad you like the chocolates, that totally just made me smile!
Take care, back to *reality* tomorrow!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the AllieBar!! I agree...the pecans are the BEST BEST BEST part. I always take bites of those sections of the bar first :)

Glad to have met you...wish we could have hung out more. Perhaps I'll come see you in NYC??

All looks so yummy! And you're right that there is always a need for chocolate.

I wouldn't have opened my reader all weekend either at the HLS. Too much fun to have! My favorite post of the weekend was about quirks that make me a healthy living blogger: http://www.faithfitnessfun.com/3545/healthy-living-blogger/

And highlight would just be continued excitement getting ready for the 30 days of self-love I'm starting in September: http://www.faithfitnessfun.com/30-days-of-self-love/

My favourite bagel topping is a tie between cream cheese and smoked salmon or cream cheese and jam!

All of those goodies made by bloggers look so fantastic! I think we need to open a chain of blogger bakeries or something! ;)

I am so jealous at the great opportunity you had at HLS to meet so many great bloggers, eat great food and attend knowledgeable presentations.

This weekend I posted a very personal entry about the relationship with family and food. I was super nervous about posting it, but the blog world has been very supportive.
