No, I’m not referring to myself!! It's just the best way to describe my dinner- I think I’ve fulfilled my healthy fats quota for the rest of the month!
Tonight’s dinner group included me and my parents; my brother and his wife; and my mom’s friend, her two daughters and the French girl we took to New York City last weekend.
As hors d’oeuvres, I set out mixed nuts, olives, and hummus with crackers and baby carrots.
Let’s just say I have a mixed nut problem.
By the time I’d picked out all the cashews, it was time for dinner!
Spring mix with blueberries, slivered almonds and blueberries.
Farfalle pasta with my aunt’s homemade pesto.
Wheat bread from Giant. (This tasted like it came straight from a real bakery!)
Tuna steaks.
Tropical salsa with mango, avocado, tomatoes, red onion and lime juice.
My plate numero uno:
I went back for more fish, salsa and salad, then finished with a thick slice of bread to mop everything up. Between the nuts, almonds, pesto, tuna and avocado, it was one healthy-fat filled meal!
Dessert continued the lipid trend: raw chocolate cake with coconut oil chocolate frosting.
With raspberry sorbet, vanilla bean ice cream and sliced strawberries.
I had two slices of chocolate cake. It’s impossible to stop at just one- everyone was amazed that it’s made with just walnuts, dates, cocoa powder, coconut oil and agave.
Our guests also brought a cheese plate with raclette, brie, bleu cheese and baguette. Tres Francais!
I passed on le fromage…those two slices were way better J
All in all, it was a lovely evening. Though having guests can be a lot of prep work, it always pays off in the end. I love entertaining.
Oof! Need bed. My body needs some rest to digest!
What’s your favorite fatty food besides nut butter? It’s my favorite too, but there are so many other good sources! I really love avocadoes.
Cheese or cake?

Nut mixes is where I like to get my fats from, I could eat a whole jar of them!
Another awesome party!! I love avocados too and you're recent sandwiches have been calling my name!!
I love my pecans too, as you know :)
oh wow that is an awesome spread for dinner! i'm most certainly jealous...
and fatty wise, i like my seriously sharp cheddar cheese and avocado...nomnomnom.
Looks like you're set for some radiant skin, hair, and brain power soon from all those healthy fats :)
Hmm fave fatty foods: Avocado/guac, olives/olive oil (in high school I would go to whole foods and get an assortment of olives, some fresh bread and eat that with the bottle of EVOO i kept in my locker), and wild salmon :)
Oh and cake ALWAYS trumps cheese...cheese is not dessert!
i LOVE this "fantastic & fatty" meal (and what a great title too!) mixed nuts + olives = 2 of my favorite foods. i have to admit that i often nibble on olives at the olive bar in whole foods... haha bad habit. this dinner with so many friends + family sounds so fun! (and particularly multicultural as well!) your raw choco cake looks decadent, btw
Did you make that dessert again? It looks like a true beauty!
Hmmm favourite fat..I'm liking brazil nuts at the moment, and I LOVE wheatgerm, if that counts as a good fat!?
Cake, hands down :P
Fats are my FAVORITE food group! And I love that you agree. I look to your blog sometimes for healthy fat inspiration.
Give me cake!
you and your family allllways prepare such amazing dinner spreads for a group. so thought-out and nutritious :) and that cake must have been a huge hit to have it 2x! I'll have to make it - my mom's b-day is coming up, maybe she'll be interested? :P
cheese vs. cake...hmmm...well, if it's that raw choco cake, definitely cake but if it's really good, fresh mozzarella cheese and "normal" cake...then cheese! haha
YUM! All that food looks delicious!
Favorite fatty food besides nut butter? How about nuts... straight up!! :) I have a problem with mixed nuts too. I'm out of control.
I would have to say avocado though - looove it!!
Avocados are definitely my favorite fatty food!
This dinner looks so perfect-- yum!

oh speaking of brie.. that cheese plate answers my next question! I would def want to try your chocolate cake but I LOVE cheese (savory salty goodness):)

I love avocados, too! And salmon - smoked, baked, grilled, sashimi - all of it. :)

I'd love to know how to make that raw choc cake! It looks delicious!
OH dear me...I love cheese...I'm so into Jarlsberg right now :)
Cake.
And I love black olives. That was my first thoguht when I read your question but then I saw you wrote avocado and have to change my answer. Avocados are delicious.
I love avocadoes, and I put olive oil on practically everything. Lovely dinner!
Fatty food: I love cashews and recently discovered avocadoes! Guess what recipe I use with my 1st avocado? Your green monster sandwich!! So good, I'll blog about it.
I choose cheese over cake :)
You're a great host :p
Your skin is going to be so glowy after that meal! ;) My favourite source of fats other than nut butters are avocadoes and salmon.
Umm cake or cheese... how about cheesecake! You get the best of both worlds.
You are so good at it too! Beautiful spread, Gab, you did a fab job!!
Cake, obviously!! No question! ;D That raw cocoa cake looks amaaaaazing!
