Weird

You want know what’s weird? I haven’t been hungry at all since lunch. Either I’m getting sick or last night’s excessive nut butter consumption has caught up with me, because I have zero appetite!

Nevertheless, after running a few errands this afternoon, I came home and made a simple protein shake with 1.5 cups almond milk and a scoop of vanilla Sun Warrior.

I’m always torn between listening to my body and eating because I “should.” The protein shake was a middle ground- simple and not too filling!

I also had a few Ginger People ginger candies, just because I love the taste!

By the time dinner rolled around, I still wasn’t hungry. Since I definitely didn’t want to skip a meal entirely, I made a light and nutritious cold tortilla pizza.

Whole Foods vegetable pasta sauce and humnut cheese (2T each water, nutritional yeast and hummus) topped with sliced tomatoes and artichoke hearts.

And because I never have to choke down fruit & chocolate, I had an apple and a chocolate raspberry Attune bar.

Have a good night loves!

When you’re genuinely not hungry, do you follow your intuition or eat something anyway?

What’s your favorite hard candy?

I usually eat at least something small anyway, because I know my body probably needs it.

I almost always eat if I'm not hungry, because I know my body needs the fuel for workouts! I used to skip breakfast sometimes because I didn't feel hungry after workouts, but once I started forcing myself to eat anyway, I saw a huge change. I now start my day with an extra boost of energy!

Butterscotch. Hands down!

I do tend to eat even if I'm not entirely hungry, but I'm trying to stop! Sure, it's important to eat throughout the day, but I think learning how to eat intuitively is just as *if not more* important. Blogging certainly hasn't helped, though, because I'm often thinking "I need to eat something to blog about!" :/

Have fun tonight!!! xoxo

Interesting pizza! I've been trying more and more to really be in touch with my hunger cues. It's hard because eating can be such a habit, but if I'm really not hungry for a meal, I'll usually just snack on veggies and hummus. Usually, operative word there.

i just eat no matter what but try to make it more condense when im not hungry. but then again, im not at the stage where i can go by intuitive eating, if ya know what i mean;-)
jolly ranchers, cherry luden cough drops lol, and those candy cane peppermint round things you see around christmas. but i like chewy candy better!xoxoo have fun tonight!

I love you G tumbler - I have a D. :) I'm like you and try to eat something even if I'm not terribly hunger just because it's important for me to keep fueling for workouts. Sounds like you do just that as well! My favorite hard candy is probably a jolly rancher -love cherry and watermelon. and apple, too.

Have fun tonight!

I've been doing a LOT of eating when I'm not hungry lately. Overall if I'm not hungry I will eat if it's been a little while since my last meal, just because eating is fun :) But in that case it's often something light like veggies, fruits or a smoothie. I really like the idea of cold tortilla pizza, I can't believe I never thought of that!

I'll eat if I know I haven't eaten enough but I also try to listen to my body.
Have a fun night girly!!!!

If it's a meal time-- I usually eat anyway just like you! :)

I don't ever eat if I'm not hungry - I hate that feeling. Plus, my body is pretty good at telling me when it needs/doesn't need food.

I love Werther's Original hard candy. And Halls vitimin C cough drops - do those count??

I love cinnamon discs and sometimes a old school butterscotch ;)

i try to eat when I am hungry and stop when i am full. These days I am following somewhat of a eating plan so I eat when I eat and I am usually ALWAYS hungry for it so that works out!

those attune bars are delicious!

I hope your appetite returns and you're not getting sick!

The matter of eating or not when not hungry has often been a dilemma for me. Even if I don't feel like it, when meal time comes around I still eat a normal portion. A lot of the time though I realize that my lack of hunger was actually due to the fact that I was too hungry!

I love sweets but unfortunately don't care very much for hard candy... gummies all the way!!

Very good question - hmm - I usually have something - usually something small like a muffin pizza or a turkey/cheese sammy. I worry when I KNOW I should be hungry!

I'm not a big hard candy fan - used to like those little werthers though!

I can't stand hard candy. The hardest I go is Hot Tamales.

I'm always torn about those two too. On Sunday I had NO appetite all day long. I really didn't eat all day. Looking back I don't think it was smart, but I couldn't stomach anything. Going the middle ground like you did probably is the best.

I've had the same problem recently! I think it is because I've been getting ready to go back to school, and sometimes stress= lack of appetite for me. I've also noticed I'm muchhh hungrier in the mornings than the afternoons. Usually I try to have a smaller snack if I'm not that hungry, cause I know that I probably will eventually get hungry waiting for dinner.

sAME hERE! Whenever I eat too much nut butter before going to bed I find i have less of an appetite the next morning. it makes me feel like nut butter is such a powerfood, that its able to really satisfy an appetite with all the healthy fat :)

that being said- I usually eat when im not hungry anyway. I can just go for less high fiber and lower protein things than normally, and usually eat carbs hahah. not too filling, but works for me!

as for hard candies... I dont eat much of them anymore, but I used to love those strawberry candies with the gummy insides. I also used to love Lifesaver Fusions (Frusions?)! Yumm!

If I'm not hungry, I won't eat. If I'm not hungry but I know I'm going to have to go a while without eating I'll eat something small. I usually find that it balances itself out and some days I'm hungrier than others.

I love butterscotch hard candies (the vegan ones, not the Werthers) but I almost never eat them. I probably only eat candy a couple times a year.

I love your, "I'm not really hungry so I'll just whip up this fabulous, 5-star-restaurant ready artichoke pizza..." Everything you make always looks amazing!

And I definitely had a gigantasaurus lunch on Friday and ended up not eating dinner. If you're not hungry, don't eat. Your body will tell you what it needs. :)

Hmmm. I'll eat something light like fruit or carrots and hummus if I don't have an appetite. It's very rare that I don't have an appetite though.

This is such a tricky conundrum for me -- I think by settling on a light snack/meal you are totally doing the right thing. That's what I usually do. I find that a lot of plain fruits, veggies, and water usually does the trick. Or a few plain spoonfuls of nut butter. Or plain dark chocolate. Never hurt anybody. :)

Unless you've eaten a buffet and pigged out for lunch, i think it's still necessary to eat. You've got to take intuitive eating with a grain of salt. Sometimes, intuitive eating is defying your "hunger" and being rationale about what you should eat and when.

I never eat if I am not hungry. If we trust in our body to fall asleep, pee, poop, get pregnant, go into labor, have a baby, nurse the baby, have a period, have an orgasm, or know when to cry or laugh..why don't we trust our hunger cues?

Why would we mess with nature's mechanism by force feeding ourselves (this is of course provided the person is relatively healthy, both in mind body and spirit..the average person, not a disordered person) but I am against force feeding. I think it disrupts the homeostasis of the organism and tells us on other levels not to trust ourselves or our gut instinct. Very bad practice if you ask me.

You will get hungry. You will eat when you're hungry. You dont need to force yourself to eat, not saying you Gabriela, I mean you to anyone. I dont eat for many hours during the day. 12 sometimes. I am not hungry. But, when I do get hungry, I eat a lot. Some days I eat every hour. Who knows!!!! I just trust my body and don't force that which feel unnatural at that moment.

Ok love ya girl! Deep comment over :)

Sometimes I have that problem of it being "time to eat" but not being REALLY hungry. It's something I wave to concentrate on and figure out now...

Freya said...

I try and get a balance - I leave it as long as possible, but if I'm still not hungry, I go ahead and eat anyway, cos I know my body needs the fuel. Not eating won't do me or my workouts any good in the long run!

I am ALWAYS hungry for my meals but sometimes I'm not really hungry for snacks in between. I usually eat a snack anyways because I just want to eat. :P

I've always loved Werther's hard caramel candies...soo delicious. That cold pizza looks fantastic, and I will usually make something light...especially if it's just that I'm not hungry and not that my stomach is upset or I'm not feeling well in some other way.

I've had disordered eating habits, so it is hard for me to know exactly my hunger cues. Mostly though, to be honest, if I am not hungry I will not eat. This hasn't been much of a problem for me recently though--I've been hungry so much lately with marathon training!
How do you like the sun warrior protein? I've been wanting to try a new protein powder!

Anonymous said...

I'll either eat something simple and comforting, like a pb&j or yogurt bowl, or just some crudite w/ hummus if I feel like I need the veggie nutrients. I hate it when I lose my appetite though! I'd much rather really enjoy my meal :)

And as for hard candies... I love most anything lemon.
