Wham, Bam, Thank You Ma'am

I had a teacher in elementary school who said that pretty much every single day. Now that I’m a little older and actually realize what it means, I’m a little befuddled as to why she’d teach a bunch of second graders that expression…

Anyway, I have a ton of work to do tonight, so this post will be a quick one!

Before classes this afternoon, I snacked on a berry-flavored Nakd bar from Freya. Tres bon!

Around 5, I met Jillian for an early dinner at Cosi, our favorite place. As usual, I got the hummus and veggie sandwich. Though I ordered it on white bread, my order came on whole-grain. I ate it anyway J

I remember hearing somewhere that Cosi’s whole-grain bread isn’t whole-grain at all, just flecked with “grains” to give it the illusion of being so. I have no idea if this is true or not, but I prefer the white!

I wasn’t very satisfied when I came home, so I had some healthy fats in the form of roasted salted peanuts.

As well as a few squares of dark chocolate and a two medjool dates.

These are the kind of sweets that love me back. No energy crashes or sugar hangovers with dates + chocolate!

Homework time!

What are some of your favorite expressions? I’ll admit to saying “Wham bam thank you ma’am” every once in awhile J

What’s your favorite “healthy” dessert?

Desserts...healthy?? ;)
Haha, no...I'd probably have to say fresh berries + angel food cake. Especially in the summer!

Good luck on all the work! That's nuts if it's true about Cosi! I prefer their white too :)

Love salted peanuts + chocolate combo. Another fav combo of mine is pretzels and peanut butter M&Ms. Love the salty-sweet combo!

Have a great night chica!

dark chocolate, and lots of it :)
I also like making hot chocolate with almond milk, cocoa powder and stevia (topped with marshmallows, obviously).

And sometimes (not that often, but sometimes) just an apple and peanut butter will tame my sweet and salty tooth :)

I've definitely made squash with peanut butter into a dessert before! Yummm.

Favorite expression? That's what she said, of course :-)

That's so random that your teacher said that to you guys! And I love all your desserts.. I always go for a big spoonful of nut butter with a glass of almond milk for my dessert!

I think a lot of breads marketed as "whole grain" are really mostly white flour - companies are just getting too clever, really! Including calling white bread wheat bread...because, techinically - it is still wheat! It just sort of gives the illusion of being whole wheat, heart healthy, ya know? Sort of a stinker :\
haha, love that your teacher said that all the time! I can never think of favorite sayings when I'm asked, lol. The weird things I say seem normal to me :P
I love dates & nuts as a healthy dessert, or banana soft serve or a big bowl of yogurt!!

It may not really be a "phrase" but I say ridiculous a lot and the husband ALWAYS laughs at me for saying it!

once in a while i love indulging in a slice of peanut butter cookie dough cheesecake from the cheesecake factory or a molten chocolate cake dessert or a giant vanilla cupcake with chocolate icing. even though i feel sick after it's sometimes worth it to pig out on sweets ;)

on a daily/weekly basis i love having 80% or greater dark chocolate. so yummy and has great stats (fiber, a little protein, not tooo much sugar). i also love justin's squeeze pack nut butters...so fun to eat!

ME TOO!! and you're young. I mean that was only like 10 yrs ago. I am shocked she got away with that! wow!

Fave expressions? "F*ck it" comes to mind LOL.

Sometimes ill say "turn that frown upside down" to people if they are being grumpy. Usually strangers. Trust me, you will get great reactions if you try it :)

I can't believe your teacher used to say that to little kids- oh well :)

I say that, but I say 'thank you ma'am I'm done'...I really need to stop listening to hip hop sometimes!

I love dates and chocolate- they should get married.

Haha that's funny!

My favorite phrase is, "You know what really chaps my ass?"

Dates and deep, dark chocolate are my favourite desserts! However, I have replaced the date with fresh figs as their season is so short!

I say 'word' way too often to admit it, but for the record, I am perfectly aware that I sound like a complete loon when I do it. That is the point, of it I think though....

Have a good day :)

I love yogurt, berry and granola parfaits for snack/dessert! I usually have it for at least one of my snacks per day.

It's so hard to tell when whole grain bread is ACTUALLY whole grain. I have to double check all the labels at the grocery store now because of how deceiving companies can be with their claims. :P

Good luck with all your work!

It's amazing how satisfying a dessert straight up pb/ab and jam can be... I'll just put some on a wrap and call it a day. I also love frozen grapes, and smoothies with a little cereal or Annie's Bunnies sprinkled on.
This is all if and only if I don't have a crazy chocolate craving, in which case I find whatever chocolate is on hand and make do (for instance, chocolate chips in yogurt with berries)

Just added you to my blogroll. I love the French language - grew up in south Louisiana with good old cajun french, and majored in French as an undergraduate, and then taught it for two years. I'm also trying to live a healthy life and look forward to following yours.

Not an expression per se but I always use the word fabulous. Dessert must always include chocolate in my opinion! :)

"It is what it is" is one that I find myself using all the time. And it's true! Sort of a dressed-down cest la vie.

I'm also a fan of "fake it til you make it" - I find it applies to anything from waking up on the wrong side of the bed to a workout lol.

My favorite healthy dessert is a bowl of cereal with almond milk and stevia for sweetness. Of course, I have lots of favorite non-healthy desserts too.
