Now Tell Me Watcha Want, Watcha Really Really Want

One of my goals for the coming year is to continue to expand this little bloggie. What started as a whim a year ago has quickly turned into a huge part of my life; I feel like it's become an outlet for creativity, a form of self-expression and a way to meet amazing people.

Of course, Une Vie Saine would be nothing without readers, so I'm asking you: what would you like to see more of in 2011? Baking, recipes, day-to-day activities, workouts, running, life in general?  Leave me a comment- I'm all ears!

* * *

I spent the afternoon snacking and napping. My head has been killing me for a few hours, so I'm hoping that with some rest I'll be back to normal tomorrow! I had a bowl of Cheerios with warm milk and a cinnamon apple:

As well as some unpictured pistachios, cashews and peanuts.

A bit later, I ruined my appetite for dinner with a few too many of these:

Butter flavored pretzels. At first bite I thought they were disgusting, at second I thought they were interesting, and at third they had won me over. Pretzels that taste like movie theater popcorn? I was almost afraid to look at the ingredient list, but what the heck. They were good.

Since my appetite was pretty light at dinnertime, I roasted up some veg.

Sweet potato rounds, green beans and kale, roasted in EVOO, salt and pepper with a side of yellow mustard for dipping.

Alongside, I had an unpictured piece of dry toast, as well as some grapefruit.

Been craving citrus fruits lately- bring on the C!

For dessert, I had two peanut butter dough balls and a few pictures of peppermint bark.

As much as I love the Christmas treats, I'm glad they're almost gone. It's too easy to OD on sugar every night!

Plans for this evening are still up in the air. Can't decide whether to go out or stay in and rest up for New Year's!!

What would you like to see more of on the blog?

Ooh those pretzels look GOOD!

To be honest, I think you have a great balance of stuff in your posts! Food, workouts, etc you get it all in! Maybe more recipes, if anything? You're such a great cook so I'd love to steal more of your ideas! :P

I love your blog and your posts...they are real, honest, pic filled, the lenght is perfect and you have inspired me to try to shorten up my posts and post 2x/day. I thought you were nuts for the longest time, but i agree, i AM actually saving time posting twice. Or at least breaking even and not spending more, i.e. 2 posts, twice the work. So that right there is a huge gift you have given me :)

More pics of you, more pics of your day to day life, friends, etc. I never read blogs for the food. It's ALWAYS for the people :) you do a phenomenal job of this already so you dont even have to change a thing.

I want to see more of your awesome foods (obviously) and your workouts!!! You seem to be really active and I'm curious how you can keep up with all the energy. It would be nice to know some general tips on working out & motivations to keep you going, etc. Thanks!

I love reading your blog - I love how you tell about your day but then add a bit more on topics that really get to you. <3 your bloggie and you!

I think some more stuff just about your life would be fun. And baking!

As for those butter twists-they are ADDICTIVE. I won't allow myself to buy them anymore because I eat myself to a stomach ache!

I like it a lot how it is. Just keep truckin'. I like posts that get a discussion going, or to hear your point of view on different things.

The cereal looks fab! I love all the veg too---it looks like a day in my life (including the cookies!).
I just found your blog today---so I think this was a great post to start with!
Happy New Year :)

You've come a long way in a year Gabriela! Congrats!

I agree with Marci; I particularly enjoy posts where you express you opinions. I love reading your thoughts on food, family, and life!

And given your major and the title of you blog, maybe you could teach your readers (ahem me) a few french words or phrases! That would be really fun!

I love your blog and have read for....wow..a long time! But I am a shy commenter (0:

So..HI!

One thing I really adore is that you truly seem to honor your body by giving it what it needs and wants...truly embracing your hunger and what feels right to you...Like the above pretzels...you wanted them and so ya did.

Your food looks incredible always.

As I am in recovery from an eating disorder I just love the example you set in terms of intuitive eating...maybe you can include more of that. Celebrate it a little more...cause you seem to be walking the walk!

Oh, and I love to see your outfits. Jcrew owes you!

If you've got fashion insight, i would love to hear it and be your biggest fan...since i have none and i'm always jealous of how girls like you, snackface and pj&jenny dress!

Like most others, I say keep on doin' what you're doin' :) Your posts are always simplistic yet entertaining at the same time, which is a balance I'm always trying to find!

I'd be interested in more vegan recipes, for sure. And you know that anything related to NYC is awesome in my book :)

I agree with you on the treats! I've been having a portion every night, but it seems to be stretching them out quite a bit. I'll be happy when they're finally gone and I won't be drawn to them every night after dinner!

Mandiee said...

I love that your blog is whatever you want it to be on that day. You are open&honest, not to mention you have some super delicious eats! As long as you keep doing your thing (whatever that means), that's all that matters. I love reading your blog!

I've been all about the roasted veggies for dinner lately, too. Total yum! While I haven't been into sweets this holiday season (I just don't crave them anymore&they effect my energy too much), I have definitely overindulged in nuts. I almost can't stand the thought of eating nuts now. Almost. Oh, the horror! ...But maybe just a little more nut butter :D...

Have a lovely day!

Was that a little Spice Girls there? Niiice.

I saw you said EVOO- I got a new Rachael Ray Cookbook when I met her, and on every page it she uses "EVOO" and everytime it spells it out afterward "(extra-virgin olive oil)". Haha what a waste of space to write both the acronym and the words each time!
