One of the best things about blogging is that it creates a journal of your life experiences. I'm glad I have these posts to commemorate the trip! In case you missed it:
On the first day, we arrived around lunchtime and headed straight out for a lunch at Cafe Rouge, then toured Kensington Palace and Hyde Park and visited one of the world's largest Whole Foods. For dinner, we ate at a pub called Cooper's Arms near Sloane Square- my first English pub experience!
On day #2, we left our flat early for the London Tower, where I drooled over the Crown Jewels and wandered around the Bloody Tower. Afterwards, we walked across the Tower Bridge, tried fish and chips at a pub, and visited St. Paul's Cathedral. That evening, we had an incredible meal at Chez Gerard in Covent Garden, then saw the play War Horse, which I loved.
The next day, we started with a long, beautiful walk in Hyde Park, and then saw some of London's biggest tourist attractions: Buckingham Palace, the changing of the guards and Westminster Abbey. The highlight of the day was definitely tea at The Goring Hotel, and I also loved seeing the Harrod's Food Hall. Dinner that night was Lebanese food at Maroush in Kensington.
Day #3 and day #4 are tied for my favorites. Day 4 started with a trip to the giant London Eye, where we saw breathtaking views of London. Then, we headed to Borough Market and had lunch at a cafe called Bedales, then enjoyed perusing all the local goods! We ate at Dei Friscobaldi in Harrod's, which wasn't great, but the giant sundae from Morelli's more than made up for it.
And yesterday, our final day, we toured the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms. So neat! Afterwards, I had a great meet-up with two of my favorite London bloggers at Saf, a raw vegan restaurant. Our trip ended with pub hopping and chocolate cake- there was no better way to spend our last night!
For those of you that asked, we've been staying in a flat in Kensington, literally a block from Harrod's, on an adorable little street called the Pont Street Mews. My dad found our flat on a site called Vacation Rentals By Owner, which we'd absolutely recommend!
Time to head to the airport. Sad. See you from the states...
What was the best trip you ever took? What made it so special?
