You Are Beautiful

Hello, dear bloggies! I’m back, and how I’ve missed you! This past week has been crazy, but amazing. Between my brother’s wedding, a trip to Cape Cod and coming to NYC to support Caitlin on the Today Show, I decided to take a little break from the computer. It was great, but I have a lot to share!

I’ll start with the most recent: the Today Show this morning!

I got into NYC from the cape late last night, so waking up at 5:30 was a little rough, though I couldn’t wait to get to see everyone at Rockefeller Center! I had a bowl of Kashi GoLean with frozen blackberries and almond milk for breakfast (it’s been a week since I had cereal, can you believe?!):

By the time I got to midtown at 6:30, a group of bloggers was already assembled. Despite security taking a few of our signs (they claimed that there were too many repeat posters), we staked out a prime piece of real estate at the corner of the barricades. I’ve always sworn I would never go to something as touristy as the Today Show, but it ended up being a ton of fun!

Caitlin was on at 10:30 and did an amazing job talking to Meredith. At the end of the segment, the crew outside focused in on our group- I’m pretty sure Sabrina got a close-up with her sign!

After the show, we all headed to Au Bon Pain. Since I was still pretty full from my cereal, I just had some pineapple chunks:

It was so great to get to know so many new bloggers! During breakfast we found out that the Operation Beautiful site actually crashed due to the amount of views, and that Caitlin’s book reached the top 1000 sellers on Amazon. So awesome, congrats to Caitlin!

After the show, I headed to the gym for a much needed workout. It’s been nearly a week since I had a good sweat sesh! I did half an hour of super intense intervals, followed by half an hour of free weights. It felt goooood J

The heat and humidity in the city definitely have a huge effect on my appetite, so I wasn’t too hungry for lunch. I stuck to some vegan tofu salad, a ton of sliced strawberries, and some peanut butter Puffins in almond milk.

Stay tuned for recaps from the past week!

Do you ever take a total break from the computer? I’m positively addicted when I’m at home, so it was definitely freeing not to have the internet for a few days.

Did you watch the Operation Beautiful segment this morning? What did you think?

I took a break on my vacation this June. It was nice. Although I did miss it.

And I really wish I could have been there. I bet it was an amazing experience.

PS - I'm still bummed I won't have the time to meet you this weekend! :(

I had such a great time this morning, even if it was a wee bit early! Meeting new friends has become one of my favorite things about blogging.

Can't wait to see more pics from the weekend.

Oh, and my appetite is totally thrown off right now too. I can only seem to eat smoothies. Weird. But I'm not complaining. Especially since they usually involve pb and chocolate, lol!

Sadly, I didn't watch Operation Beautiful, but I am sure that I can find a link on Caitlin's blog. That is such a wonderful thing, and the amount of positive response that she has gotten is just incredible!

I'm glad that you had fun but even more glad that you're back! I think I even missed seeing your cereal-ha. I have only been to au bon pain once, but it was pretty yummy. :)

I'm mad I missed the segment this morning! I was swamped in meetings, unfortunately. I've been on a bit of a computer break this week, too. No shame. :)

Looks like you had a fantastic time in the city this morning--I'm jealous!

Omgosh, so so jealous that you were at the taping this morning! I totally agree about the touristy thing and the Today show, I remember when I lived there I was like, ugh, no... even though I have gone lol :P But that would have been so much fun! Unfortunately I had to work, but I will definitely be watching the clip later on my computer!

I totally agree about the "disconnecting" thing too. Sometimes its. just. so. hard. to do! But I think, much needed sometimes. I disconnected for almost the entire week during my family reunion trip in Boston and it was... liberating, although, I did miss it!

Glad to have you back though, can't wait to hear the full recap!

<3 :D

I definitely am a computer-aholic at home, too. But I am realizing now that it is important to unwind and take a break every now and then!

Looks like you are having a blast..I'm so happy for ya girlie!

That's amazing you got to see The Today Show! I was at work while it aired, so I watched it just now and thought Caitlin did an amazing job. I can't wait to go out and buy the book. I think it's great you took a break from the computer; we all need that once in awhile!

I'd be lying if I wasn't green in the face with jealousy right now! What an amazing experience and I am so glad you were able to share it with the rest of us! Caitlin and OB rocks!!

I did watch the Today show with Caitlin this morning. (I was almost late for my bootcamp class because I HAD to see it. :-)
Can't wait to hear more about your brother's wedding and your adventures over the past week. A blog break is a good thing occasionally!

That vegan tofu salad looks good, I always see the vegan "chicken" salad at Whole Foods and have been tempted to try it for awhile...

I take a break from the computer every weekend. It's nice to have some time away. As much as I love blogging, the weekends are my time off to just enjoy life.

gaaahh I wish I could have been there today - freaking strep!! I miss your face! I checked out the segment online - it was really lovely.
It's sooo nice to take a break from the computer. I do at least once a week, and try for a longer period every couple of months. Unplug, reconnect to real life!!

Heyyy it seems like it's been so long since you last posted! I hope you had fun at your brother's wedding! :)

Breaks from the computer are so refreshing! I haven't taken one since I started blogging, but I used to be able to go for weeks at a time without really going on the internet!

Welcome back, girl! That's so awesome that you got to go support Caitlin in NYC. It must have been an amazing experience. I didn't get to watch her on TV, but I caught the clip of it and thought she did a fantastic job. I really hope that her message spreads, and that people change the way they see themselves, instead of trying to change themselves so they like what they see.

It's been a looooong while since i've taken a complete break from the computer, and I could definitely use one. I've tried to do it while I was at home, but I find that as long as a computer is around me, the temptation is there. I need a vacation or something ;)

I LOVE these pictures - so good to see you guys out there supporting her. And cute outfits and signs, ladies! :)

I didn't see the segment - boo - hopefully I can catch it online!

Only computer breaks are on the weekends! I took a break last week from noon Friday to 8 a.m. Monday - it was glorious!
